Do You Love Me?

Not long ago, my son Ethan started this little thing.  He does it several times a day, and it always goes the same way.

Birds

Ever since Ethan was a very little guy, he has been fascinated by birds.  Every time we would go to the beach, Ethan would spend more time chasing the sea gulls than actually getting in the water or building sand castles.  I ignored it then, but as he’s grown older, I’ve noticed that anytime we go to a park, he seeks out birds.  He’s learned that he must be quiet around them or he’ll scare them off, so he sneaks up as quietly as he can to get a good look.

“Do Not Lose Heart”

I will be the first to admit that I’m a “glass half-empty” type of person.  I don’t like to call myself a negative person, just a realist.  My husband, on the other hand, is optimistic and upbeat.  He rarely sees the bad in people or situations.

Too “Plugged-In”?

If you know me, you know that I ABHORE talking on the phone.  There is a very small circle of people, namely my husband, mother, and sisters, for whom I will actually answer the phone.  Everyone else gets the voice-mail.  I don’t enjoy chit-chat and I’m kind of awkward on the phone.  If I’m going to talk to someone, I would rather it be in person…or on the computer.

Results

I’ve written this blog in my head time and again over the past week.  The results could have gone either way, but one thing would remain the same God is good!

Recovery

It’s the day after surgery, and I’m happy to write that I’m feeling fantastic!  Surgery went well yesterday.  I was most worried about being put to sleep because I had never been put under, but that went really well.  I wasn’t sick afterward, and to be completely honest, it was the best nap I’ve ever had! :)

The Tooth Fairy

Back when Maddi was still a baby, David and I came to the decision that we would not do the whole Santa Claus thing with our children.  We don’t judge those who do, but we felt that for our family, it would be best to be honest with our children by letting them know that we give them their Christmas gifts.  However, I think that by not allowing our children to believe that some old, fat man with a white beard breaks into our house every Christmas Eve to leave presents, we’ve warped them as far as some other make-believe characters go.  Case in point: the Tooth Fairy.

Maddi’s Big Day

Several months ago, Maddi accepted Christ as her Savior.  It was an exciting day for us, and since that day, she has put us all to shame in her fervor for telling others about Jesus.

Health Update

We have received an overwhelming number of emails this week in regard to my upcoming surgery.  There were few details given in David’s parent’s email update, so David and I thought the best way to update everyone would be through this blog post.

I Can’t Handle It–But I Know WHO Can!

Not long ago, I experienced an especially frustrating day with my daughter. In my frustration, I hastily posted on facebook something to the effect of, “I know God said He won’t give us more than we could handle.  He must have thought I was stronger than I am when he gave me my daughter.”
